Complete the Sketchnote Handbook Exersises
Due Tuesday, February 21st.
In this assignment you will continue practicing visual note taking skills that are important for communicating design ideas. One of the biggest issues in design is communication new ideas. Anyone who has legible handwriting can gain basis visual communication skills to make simple drawings, diagrams, and interesting text. If you are a visual designer in DSGN 430 uses these exercises to take leadership on techniques to engage your design team in holistic word + pictures communication instruction. Learning to engage others through sketching is a valuable skills, when all of the team is comfortable making and sharing images then ideas will be more effectively communicated.
Individually read Chapters 4-6 in the Sketchnote Handbook. While reading take visual notes of the chapters. Completely cover the spread of two pages of notes for each chapter minimum in your moleskine sketchbook. As you take notes emulate and develop your own style of visual note taking.
In your team complete the following exercises. All students are to complete the exercise individually, but visual art majors in DSGN 430 are to take the lead and assist others in learning basis sketching skills. Cover the content from pages 166-196.
Starting with page 166 in the Sketchnote Handbook complete the following exercises. Using one sheet each of your moleskine sketchbook make one sheet each
In your moleskine make one page of a variety of arrows, one half page of a variety of bullets, one page of lines, and separators, one hale page of connectors, and one page of thought bubbles, containers, and icons. (see pages 174-175)
On thee pages of your moleskin reproduce the same number of grid cells on pages 178-179. Complete the exercises as outlined the book in your sketchnote book.
On thee pages of your moleskin reproduce the same number of grid cells on pages 180-181. Complete the exercises as outlined the book in your sketchnote book.
On two pages of your moleskine draw metaphors as outlined on 182. Be original and create your own!
Email the instructor your best three pages from your moleskine. (Use snapped or similar app to photo edit your images to make them sharp and white balanced.)
Visual Design Leaders in DSGN 430 are to add one page of reflective visual notes in their moleskine on what they learned by instructing visual note taking.
