Why​

Web based portfolios have become essential tools for self promotion and securing interviews for employment.  

What ​

Create a basic squarespace web blog and portfolio platform to communicate your work from this class and host future work. 

​How:

1. ​Go to new.squarespace.com and set up a basic account and watch the following videos. 

​2. Review the following website to get ideas for your own website. Make a sketchbook entries with ideas for your website.

​3. Review the tutorial videos

4. Build a site with the following design objectives and functionality:​

Design Objectives

  • Create a website that communicates in written and visual form your professional goals and attributes, and the relevant ideas and content associated with the interior design program at the University of Tennessee. 

Functionality​

  • Home page with an image or gallery
  • ​About page with introductory video embedded 
  • Blog page with a category list​ for assignments
  • Create a blog entry describing your central ideas in regard to the design of your site. Photograph or scan an image from your sketch book used to develop the design idea for your website and use it in your blog entry. ​
  • create and label the blog entry with a "website set-up" category. ​

​Team Points

To earn team points on this assignment complete the following. ​

  • ​Review another class members website (up to two sites for full team points).
  • Find a unique website that relates to the design of website you are reviewing.
  • Write a ​review in the blog comments of your peers website in a manner that is respectful and in the spirit of assistance that results in improvement of the website in future revision and design efforts.
  • Use the related website to describe successes, insights, and improvements of your peers design. ​
  • Provide your name and a link to your website. ​

Point Submissions​

  • Create a print to PDF version of all pages on your initial website design and submit on on Blackboard to earn experience points.
  • Team submission should be a print to PDF of the blog comment review on your peer's website and submitted on blackboard to build the experience points.
