  • 2 48”X96” Sheets of White Craft Paper
  • Dress for a photoshoot and be ready to draw full size images. 
  • Tape measure or yard stick 

All Teams Research

Charles and Ray Eames – 

  •     Chair pictures (4) and drawings (4) 
  •     design process (4) 
  •     relationship with technology/production (4)
  •     miscellaneous – topic of your choice by Ray or Charles (4)

Per Assigned Team Research:

  • Team One - Origami and Paper Folding – contemporary and traditional examples (10/10) 
  • Team Two - Human Dimensions – measurements used to determine size, reach, seating dimensions… as used by designers… (12)
  • Team Three - Human Proportions – artistic and design  (12)
  • Team Four - Le Modular (6) and Japanese Ken and Tatami (6) 

(X) minimum number of visual examples for each team 

Demonstrate the completed research by making copies or printing images for each of the above topics. Add the bibliographic  source and team members for each image. (handwritten on back of printout)  

Final Requirements

Print/photo copy images so they fill as much as possible a 8.5X11 pice of paper.

Use web and book resources 50/50

Check out books used for research and bring to class to demonstrate use of the library and future reference. 

Print high quality images, (no pixilation) you must be able to read numbers and text on images/dimensions. 

Prepare a one page written brief for your assigned topic. 

Prepare a one page written brief of your Eames topics. 

Due at the beginning of class organized by topic (not team) and neatly pin to wall in studio.
