Assignment 3
DUE: Friday, August 31 at the beginning of class - 10 prototypes.
Watch:
The video to Tim Brown discussing design iteration.
Explore:
SPACE - The design of the vessel and limb must have enhanced spatial qualities and interactions.
Design the vessel with the following design elements amplified as part of your exploration.
- Visual Contrast - the limb and the vessel are to emphasize visual contrast.
- Restraint - the vessel and limb are to have minimal, restrained, qualities. Only use one sheet of paper or cart stock with minimal folds, cuts, and shapes.
- Presence - The vessel is to enhance the limb, placing hierarchal emphasis on the natural form.
2X5 Prototypes - Create two distinct ideas for the vessel to contain your limb. For each of the two ideas create 5 iterative prototypes. Each prototype should be an incremental exploration to the deign ideas.
RESTRICTIONS: Each prototype is to be constructed from a single sheet of paper, card stock, or other foldable material. You may only cut and fold the sheet, and cut the sheet to any shape or size, but not cut the sheet in two.
The final design will be constructed of white museum board.
For each prototype take a digital photo on a clean table with no background elements that interfere with understanding the design.
Post your images on slack in the general container.
